Amman: Director General of the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Fairouz Mubaideen, addressed the significant role of communication, culture, and media in tackling modern global challenges during a lecture at the Jordanian Writers Union offices in Amman. The event, held on Saturday evening, attracted cultural and media professionals, including Union President, poet Alian Adwan, and other members.
According to Jordan News Agency, Mubaideen emphasized that media and culture are essential in shaping societal values and principles, describing them as “torches of awareness” that enhance the quality of life and comprehension of reality. She highlighted the unique character of Jordanian society, which is enriched by its diverse heritage and cultural wealth, contributing to national cohesion and harmony.
Mubaideen praised the enduring presence of the Jordanian cultural scene, noting its literary and artistic figures whose contributions continue to resonate across generations. She asserted that their visions and ideas remain vital and influential.
Addressing questions, Mubaideen drew a distinction between media and culture, highlighting the immediacy and impact of media in contrast to culture’s role in preserving history, consolidating ideas, and fostering long-term awareness. She also underscored Petra’s pivotal role in the Jordanian media landscape, lauding its credibility, accuracy, and editorial professionalism in ensuring reliable news dissemination.
Mubaideen further elaborated on Petra’s strategy of collaboration, particularly with the cultural sector, to deliver precise information. She affirmed Petra’s leadership among Arab news agencies, driven by a national vision, strategic objectives, and a professional commitment to high credibility.
