Lebanese Leaders Urge International Intervention Following Israeli Strike on Beirut Suburb

Beirut: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Sunday condemned the Israeli attack on Beirut’s southern suburb. In a statement issued by the Lebanese presidency, Aoun called on the United States and France, as guarantors of the cessation of hostilities agreement, to assume their responsibilities and compel Israel to immediately halt its assaults. He warned that “Israel’s continued undermining of stability will escalate tensions and expose the region to serious risks threatening its security and stability.”

According to Jordan News Agency, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam also condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon. He urged the countries sponsoring the security arrangements tied to the cessation of hostilities to act swiftly to stop the aggression and expedite Israel’s full withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
