Lower House Speaker Concludes Iraq Visit with Meetings at Kurdistan Parliament

Erbil: Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives Ahmad Safadi on Saturday visited the Parliament of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, where he met with several heads of parliamentary blocs at the conclusion of his official visit to Iraq. Safadi stated that Jordan has embarked on its second centennial with a modernization vision that broadens the participation of women and youth in various sectors, with a specific focus on parliamentary activities.

According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi mentioned that, following directives from His Majesty King Abdullah II, Jordan’s modernization strategy across political, economic, and administrative areas has reinforced participatory governance, fostering development and progress in multiple fields. He stressed the significance of exchanging expertise between the Jordanian Parliament and the Kurdistan Parliament, particularly in improving legislative and oversight functions.

The heads of parliamentary blocs in the Kurdistan Parliament expressed their commitment to enhancing parliamentary cooperation. They emphasized the importance of such collaborations in advancing legislative and oversight capabilities in both parliaments. Furthermore, they highlighted the historical ties between Jordan, the Kurdistan Region, and all components of Iraq, noting that parliamentary visits serve as a vital step toward transforming this cooperation into practical initiatives that will benefit both parties.
