Jordan Encourages Engineering Sector to Explore Rebuilding Opportunities in Syria and Iraq

Amman: Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yarub Qudah, has urged Jordan’s engineering consultancy and services sector to seize emerging opportunities in regional markets, focusing particularly on reconstruction efforts in Syria and Iraq, during a panel discussion organized by the A/E Business Council.

According to Jordan News Agency, Qudah emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for various sectors, with a special focus on engineering consultancy, to engage in projects in Iraq and Syria. The Minister highlighted the significant increase in Jordan’s exports to Syria during the first quarter of this year, attributed to enhanced cooperation facilitated by five joint committees working with Syria.

Qudah stressed the substantial potential for growth in export opportunities and reiterated the necessity for Jordanian entities to leverage the rebuilding process in Syria. He outlined the government’s initiatives to bolster the sector both within Jordan and internationally, identifying engineering consulting services, alongside related domains such as financial services, IT, and construction, as vital employers of Jordanian talent.
