Amman: Director-General of the Jordan Hejaz Railway Corporation (JHR), Zahi Khalil, said the rail route extending from Mafraq governorate to the “Zero Zone” on the Syrian border is currently being inspected, in cooperation and coordination with the relevant authorities and agencies.
According to Jordan News Agency, Khalil stated that the rail line inspections will be completed this month to ensure infrastructure “readiness” to resume tourist trips to the Syrian city of Daraa. Khalil noted the resumption of tourist trips to Daraa is linked to government directives and technical and security matters on the Syrian side, especially amid the rail line interruptions inside Syrian territory. Additionally, he affirmed the JHR will be “technically ready” to resume trips, after coordination with the Syrian authorities.
