APC Strengthens UK Market Presence Amid European Potash Supply Challenges

Amman: Chairman of Arab Potash Company (APC), Shehadeh Abu Hdeib, and CEO, Dr. Maan Nsour, recently hosted UK Ambassador to Amman, Philip Hall, at the company’s headquarters to discuss APC’s expanding role in the British market and future growth strategies.

According to Jordan News Agency, Abu Hdeib emphasized that APC’s strategic approach has fortified its position in the UK market. This development comes as some potash suppliers have ceased meeting Europe’s demands due to geopolitical tensions in the Black Sea region and sanctions on Belarus, creating a market gap that APC has successfully filled. The company has established a trading and logistics company in Europe and leased warehouses in the northwest to enhance its market presence.

Dr. Nsour highlighted that entering the British market is a strategic move in APC’s expansion plans, aiming to bolster its global standing. He pointed out that the UK presents a significant opportunity for increasing exports and competitiveness. Nsour mentioned APC’s exports, including those from the Numeira Mixed Salts and Mud Company, to the UK, noting a remarkable growth trend due to demand for Dead Sea salt products.

Nsour reviewed APC’s expansion projects over the past five years, which have boosted potash production and global competitiveness. Future projects aim to increase annual production from 2.85 million tons to about 4 million tons over the next seven years. Additionally, he highlighted the Jordan Bromine Company’s expansion, which is set to become the largest producer of bromine and its derivatives globally.

Ambassador Hall commended APC’s global expansion efforts and the strengthening of economic ties between Jordan and the UK. He praised APC as a distinguished example of Jordanian industry achieving global success and expressed hope for more partnerships and investments to enhance economic integration.

The meeting also explored enhancing APC’s academic cooperation with UK institutions, emphasizing the importance of exchanging expertise and knowledge in industrial and technological fields to serve mutual interests, as stated by APC.
