Amman: The Ministry of Agriculture signed an agreement on Sunday to support fruit and vegetable exports with a funding package worth JD2 million, in collaboration with Royal Jordanian (RJ) and the Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruit and Vegetables (JEPA), as the main beneficiary of government support provided through the Agricultural Risk Fund.
According to Jordan News Agency, Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat said the deal aims to enhance Jordanian agricultural exports and open new markets by facilitating export operations and reducing air freight costs. The initiative aligns with the country’s economic modernization vision and the National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture 2022-2025.
RJ’s Vice Chairman and CEO, Samer Majali, highlighted the government’s strong backing for the initiative, particularly from the Ministry of Agriculture, to increase fruit and vegetable exports. He noted that RJ would help expand market access to destinations such as Bucharest and Kazakhstan, increase flights to Maastricht in Western Europe, and lower shipping costs to boost the competitiveness of Jordanian products globally.
JEPA President, Mazen Hamarneh, praised the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Royal Jordanian, emphasizing the airline’s role as a national carrier in strengthening Jordan’s presence in global markets and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
