Ministry Outlines Consumer Protection Provisions as Enforcement Measures Continue

Amman: The Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply has highlighted key provisions of the Consumer Protection Law as part of its ongoing market oversight campaign, emphasizing protections against deceptive commercial practices.

According to Jordan News Agency, the legislation explicitly prohibits misleading advertisements, which fall under regulatory scrutiny when containing inaccurate or incomplete information regarding product specifications, quality standards, expiration dates, contractual terms, payment structures, or service provider credentials.

“Consumer rights are comprehensively safeguarded under current legislation,” the ministry stated in its advisory. These fundamental protections include access to safe products meeting health standards, transparent product information disclosure, freedom from coercive sales tactics, and proper documentation of transactions.

The ministry maintains multiple reporting channels for market violations, including its dedicated complaint line (065661176) and digital platforms through both its official website (mit.gov.jo) and social media presence (facebook.com/mit.gov.jo), where consumers can document and submit evidence of potential infractions.
