RSS Hosts Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan for 55th Anniversary Celebration

Amman: In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS), the Society hosted Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan in honor of the 55th anniversary of its founding.

According to Jordan News Agency, the RSS President, Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, highlighted the Society’s enduring commitment to fostering scientific research and innovation in Jordan. Since its establishment, the RSS has been dedicated to integrating scientific ideas with real-world applications, with a focus on knowledge and innovation as key drivers of progress.

Her Highness stressed the importance of nurturing a culture of research and development, supporting Jordanian researchers and scientists, and fostering an environment that values scientific innovation. She underscored the need for partnerships that align scientific research with commercial demands and the importance of investing in national talents to remain relevant in a rapidly advancing technological landscape.

The Princess also reaffirmed the Royal Scientific Society’s role as a hub for knowledgeable individuals and its significant contribution to Jordan’s development. She emphasized the Society’s commitment to collaborating with the government and other national institutions to support the next generation of scientists, engineers, and technicians, and to advance sustainability and economic modernization in Jordan.

In his address, Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan commended the Royal Scientific Society’s substantial efforts in science and technology. He highlighted the need for investment in these efforts to keep pace with global advancements and stressed the importance of linking the Society’s programs with the Future Technology Council, established by King Abdullah II and overseen by Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.

The Prime Minister called for collaboration among all institutions with the Royal Scientific Society to benefit both public and private sectors, aligning with the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision. He also emphasized the development of the Irada Program, in partnership with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, to create a developmental impact in the governorates and linked the Society with youth centers to enhance skills in modern science and technology.

Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan accompanied the Prime Minister on a tour of the Society’s facilities, including the Medical Engineering Directorate, which manages medical equipment in government hospitals. The Prime Minister also visited the automated chemistry labs and the National Center for Metrology, receiving briefings on their operations and material testing processes.
