Tunis: The 42nd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers commenced in Tunis on Sunday with the participation of Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya, alongside his counterparts from Arab states and high-level security delegations.
According to Jordan News Agency, Kuwait’s Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, assumed the presidency of the current session of the council from his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The session also included participation from Portugal’s Minister of Internal Affairs, indicating efforts to enhance police cooperation between the European Union and Arab countries.
Attendees comprised representatives from various international organizations, including the Arab League, INTERPOL, the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Europol, Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, and the Arab Police Sports Federation. The council discussed several key projects, such as the 11th phase of the Arab Strategy to Combat the Illicit Use of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, the 7th phase of the Arab Strategy for Civil Protection (Civil Defense), and the 7th phase of the Arab Strategy to Combat Cybercrime.
Additionally, reports reviewed during the session included the Secretary-General’s report between the 41st and 42nd sessions and the report of the President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences.
