Jordan Signs 12 Agreements to Support Solar Installations for Households

Amman: Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, signed 12 agreements with charitable and cooperative associations to facilitate the installation of solar panels and solar water heaters for households on Monday. The agreements aim to support the residential sector’s transition to renewable energy sources.

According to Jordan News Agency, the agreements, made with the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF), provide a 30% subsidy for solar energy systems. This initiative is part of a broader program to support households across Jordan. During the signing ceremony, Al-Kharabsheh highlighted that these agreements are intended to reduce the financial burden of electricity bills for households, aligning with the ministry’s efforts to increase reliance on local energy sources.

The program is a key component of Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, which focuses on promoting renewable energy solutions and enhancing energy efficiency. Al-Kharabsheh also mentioned ongoing efforts to create new programs to offer more support to low-income households. The current phase aims to install 4,000 solar energy systems and 5,000 solar water heaters by the end of 2024.

He emphasized equitable distribution of subsidies across regions and recognized the crucial role of charitable associations in executing the program. Additionally, he invited eligible associations to participate actively.

JREEEF’s Executive Director, Rasmi Hamzeh, pointed out the initiative’s direct economic benefits for citizens. He underlined the importance of associations adhering to program guidelines and effectively marketing the initiative. Hamzeh clarified that the subsidies are a direct grant from the Ministry of Energy and stressed the need for transparent communication regarding the program’s support.
