Amman: Malaysia’s Ambassador to Jordan, Mohammad Nasri Abdul Rahman, hosted a reception on Wednesday evening to celebrate Malaysia’s upcoming chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), starting in January next year.
According to Jordan News Agency, Ambassador Nasri expressed Malaysia’s readiness to assume a pivotal role as ASEAN chair, emphasizing the country’s aim to strengthen the centrality of the association. During the event, themed “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” the ambassador stated, “We look forward to advancing greater commitment to enhancing trade and investment among ASEAN nations, while ensuring that inclusivity and sustainability key themes for 2025 take center stage in our regional community-building efforts.”
He reiterated Malaysia’s steadfast vision for ASEAN, highlighting its continued role in reflecting the aspirations of the ASEAN peoples for a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region capable of making positive contributions to global affairs. The event also fe
atured the official unveiling of the logo and theme for Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2025 by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
This marks the fifth time Malaysia has assumed ASEAN’s chairmanship, having previously led the bloc in 1977, 1997, 2005, and 2015.
