Abu Dhabi: Jordan and the UAE have entered into a landmark agreement aimed at enhancing cooperation in the realms of higher education and scientific research. This pivotal executive programme was signed in Abu Dhabi by Jordan’s Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research, Azmi Mahafzah, alongside Abdulrahman Al Awar, the UAE Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
According to Jordan News Agency, the executive programme delineates several crucial areas of cooperation. A significant focus rests on the exchange of information regarding academic fields and educational systems, specifically concerning the equivalence of university and postgraduate degrees. This measure is designed to facilitate the mutual recognition of degrees between the two nations.
The agreement further extends to the exchange of systems for evaluating academic programmes and institutional accreditation. It includes provisions for collaboration on sc
holarships for undergraduate programmes, taking into account available capacities and regulations. Such cooperation aims to foster initiatives that encourage students to study in both Jordan and the UAE.
Additionally, the programme seeks to ease the establishment of branches of Jordanian and Emirati higher education institutions within each other’s territories. It is also poised to enhance direct cooperation between institutions across various academic fields. A noteworthy aspect of the agreement is its emphasis on the development of joint scientific research, which is expected to bring significant benefits to both countries.
