CAIRO: Jordan’s Minister of Justice, Bassam Talhouni, participated in the 73rd meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers in Cairo on Wednesday. Chaired by Saudi Arabia, the meeting served as a preparatory session for the 40th session of the Council scheduled for Thursday, during which the agenda for the upcoming session was discussed.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting focused on activating and implementing several key conventions, including the Arab Convention for Combating Terrorism, the Arab Convention for Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism, and the Arab Convention for Combating IT-related crimes. The ministers emphasized the need to strengthen Arab and international cooperation in combating terrorism.
The participants also discussed the implementation of decisions related to the Arab Convention on Combating Corruption. Progress on various draft conventions and laws was reviewed, such as the Arab Convention on the Status of Refugees in Arab
Countries, the Arab Convention on the Protection of Personal Data, and the Arab Guiding Law on Preventing Hate Speech.
Further discussions included the draft Arab Guiding Law on the Protection and Assistance of Displaced Persons, the draft Arab Guiding Law on Protecting Children from Recruitment in Armed Conflicts, and the draft Arab Model Law on Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.
The Executive Office of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers comprises representatives from Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Tunisia, Iraq, Libya, and Morocco.
