Amman: The Canadian Embassy in Amman has announced a new partnership between Canada and Jordan aimed at establishing a training center for animation and digital content creation in Jordan. The collaboration involves Canada’s University of Waterloo and Jordan’s Progressive Generation – Holding, marking a significant step as the first such center in the Middle East.
According to Jordan News Agency, the center is set to open in March 2025 and will offer accredited programs designed for young individuals aspiring to join the animation and digital content sectors. The initiative seeks to provide comprehensive training, equipping students with the necessary skills to thrive in the competitive global markets. The curriculum will blend academic accreditation with practical certification, ensuring high-quality education that meets international industry standards.
Canadian Ambassador Tariq Ali Khan underscored the significance of this partnership in boosting Jordan’s status as a hub for digital content creation and
outsourcing. He highlighted that the training program is projected to create over 50,000 jobs in the creative industries across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by the year 2030.
Jean-Paul Mouton, Corporate Development Lead at the University of Waterloo, pointed out the transformative potential of this initiative for the MENA region. It aims to develop digital skills and generate substantial employment opportunities, fostering growth in the creative sector.
Ahmad Al Masri, CEO of Progressive Generation Holding, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration. He stated, “Together, we are not just envisioning a new era of animation; we are building it. By empowering students, fostering innovation, and creating opportunities, we are elevating our industry to unprecedented heights.”
