Zarqa and Mafraq Industrial Exports Surge to $1.3 Billion in First Ten Months of 2024.

Zarqa: The total industrial exports from the Zarqa and Mafraq governorates have reached an impressive $1.301 billion during the first ten months of this year, marking a significant increase from the $1.051 billion recorded in the same period last year, according to Faris Hammouda, president of the Zarqa Chamber of Industry (ZCI).

According to Jordan News Agency, the industrial exports for October alone saw a 25 percent rise, reaching $155.8 million compared to $124.2 million in October 2023. This upward trend has been consistent over the past months, largely driven by a 43 percent increase in exports to North American countries, totaling $664 million for the period. The United States accounted for $629.9 million of these exports, while Canada received $30.6 million.

Exports to Arab countries constituted a significant portion, with a total of $442.8 million, representing 34 percent of the total exports. Iraq topped the list with $161.7 million, a 35 percent increase, followed by Saudi Arabia with exports wor
th $102.6 million.

Exports to non-Arab Asian countries were valued at $86.7 million, making up 7 percent of the total, reflecting a 14 percent rise from $75.8 million during the same period last year. Bangladesh was the leading recipient with $6.2 million, followed by India at $5.8 million, and China at $5.6 million.

European Union countries received exports worth $57.8 million, accounting for 4 percent of the total. Notably, exports to the Netherlands increased by 61 percent to $27.9 million, while the United Kingdom received $12.3 million. Exports to non-Arab African countries amounted to $2.3 million.

The leather and knitting sector led the export categories with $728.7 million, reflecting a 41 percent increase. The food, agricultural, and livestock industries sector followed with $222.1 million, and the construction industries sector ranked third with $87.5 million.

The engineering, electrical, and information technology sector exported goods worth $83 million, while the chemical and cosmetics sector
ranked fifth at $58.6 million. The therapeutic industries and medical supplies sector recorded exports of $42.5 million, followed by the packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies sector at $38.3 million. The plastic and rubber industries sector had exports worth $36.7 million, and the wood and furniture industries sector reported $3.1 million in exports.
