In its editorial, Al-Watan newspaper highlighted the esteemed Cabinet’s praise for the historic speech delivered by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, during the opening session of the General Debate of the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
The newspaper pointed to what prominent Arab and international media outlets had reported, including extensive excerpts from the noble speech and its highly significant remarks and positions, particularly regarding the failure to intervene in stopping the Israeli aggression on Gaza. His Highness described this stance as a major scandal, holding the international community accountable for what is happening to the Palestinian people, who are facing a systematic destructive war that has extended to Lebanon. HH emphasized that the key to security is just peace.
The newspaper concluded its editorial by affirming that Arab media emphasized the State of Qatar’s continued efforts with its partners to reach a permanent ceasefire, secure the release of prisoners and
detainees and move towards a just solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. This includes ensuring that the Palestinian people obtain all their legitimate rights, foremost among them being their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
The Peninsula newspaper said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s speech at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly this week was historic, touching all the key issues and challenges facing the region in particular and the world in general. The speech embodied Qatar’s foreign policy principles of a just and rules-based global governance and order.
The newspaper said in its editorial titled ” For Rules-Based Global Order ” that the UN General Assembly session comes at a time when the Middle East region faces increased risks of expansion of the conflict with Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip now nearing a year. The Israeli military has also killed hundr
eds of people in strikes in parts of Lebanon in recent days, further escalating the tensions. Qatar has been warning since day one of the conflict of the danger of its expansion in the region.
HH the Amir said at UNGA: “Israel is currently waging a war on Lebanon and no one knows to what extent this war could escalate. This is what we have repeatedly warned against if the brutal war on Gaza doesnt end. This systematic destructive war must stop, and this is the choice before Israel as its leaders know very well. They know that it will neither bring security and peace to northern Israel nor to Lebanon, and that the key to security rests on a just peace, The Peninsula added.
HH the Amir also highlighted other pressing regional and global issues including conflicts in Yemen, Syria, Sudan, and Libya, the paper said, noting that HH stressed “Arab countries cannot achieve security and stability without the existence of firmly established states capable of legislating and enforcing the law, developing and implement
ing national policies.” The Peninsula concluded by saying that HH the Amir stressed that for Qatar, mediation and humanitarian work are both a strategic political choice at the regional and international levels, and a humanitarian duty before being a political one.
In local affairs, Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial that Qatar has alerted through various international platforms to the immense suffering endured by Palestinian families, especially in Gaza, as a result of the massacres committed by the occupation. Entire families have been wiped out, while others are displaced, facing the hardships of disease and hunger.
The newspaper highlighted HE Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad’s keenness during her address at the 57th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council to highlight the State of Qatar’s commitment to continue cooperation with international partners to enhance the protection of the rights of women and children in conflict situation, and to
ensure their effective participation in rebuilding societies after these conflicts.
Al-Raya affirmed that the State of Qatar believes that safeguarding the family and keeping it strong and cohesive is the first line of defense for the stability, growth, and prosperity of societies, away from wars, conflicts, and dangerous social issues that emerge from time to time. To that end, Qatar has launched numerous innovative initiatives for families both within the country and abroad. Qatar plays a leading role in enhancing family stability and protecting it from threats, whether those resulting from conflicts, the effects of modern technology or social and economic transformations, and stressed the State’s commitment to continuing its approach that places the family at the heart of development and humanitarian efforts, in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030.
The newspaper concluded by saying that Qatar continues to believe that attacks on families around the world can be stopped by adopting a preventive dip
lomacy approach and engaging in effective multilateral dialogue.
