Doha: In their editorials on Thursday, Qatari newspapers addressed several local and Arab topics, most notably the decisions approved by the Cabinet during its regular meeting on Wednesday regarding the tourism sector.
The newspapers also stressed that the State of Qatar is moving forward with its strategic plan to increase tourism contribution to the national economy and achieve sustainable development that considers environmental and social dimensions, adding that a comprehensive strategy has been put in place to elevate this sector and make it a significant contributor to the national economy.
Additionally, the newspapers emphasized the State of Qatar’s commitment to children’s health and safety from all aspects, as demonstrated in the Third National Forum for Human Rights, which discussed ways to preserve children’s rights in a safe digital environment. The Forum called for policies and measures to enable children to safely access the digital environment, continuous development of preventive tools to ke
ep pace with evolving digital risks and challenges, and encouragement of innovations in technology while ensuring high safety standards, newspapers explained.
In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper said the decisions approved by the Cabinet in the meeting on Wednesday reflect promising developments for the tourism sector and the anticipated leading role of this sector in the economic diversification plans and national development.
The newspaper noted that the new decisions, which include the approval of draft laws amending some provisions regulating tourism and business events, aim to enable Qatars tourism sector to implement the new tourism strategy.
It added that these decisions align with the goals of the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030, launched as part of the final phase of Qatar National Vision 2030, which identifies the tourism sector as a key area within economic diversification efforts intended to contribute to sustainable growth and drive economic diversification in the country.

harq concluded by stressing that the new decisions serve as a roadmap for enhancing the tourism sector through benefitting from investment incentives, encouraging the private sector, and the flexibility of regulations that have made Qatar a leader in tourism investment.
Similarly, Al-Watan noted that Qatar Tourism plans to welcome 6 million visitors by 2030 with the goal of increasing the tourism sector’s contribution to the GDP from 7% to 12%, doubling employment in the hospitality sector, and making Qatar one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the Middle East.
The newspaper said that the Cabinet, in its regular meeting held Wednesday morning at the Amiri Diwan, chaired by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, approved a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. (20) of 2018 regulating tourism.

d at enabling Qatar Tourism to implement the new tourism strategy. Additionally, the Cabinet approved a draft Amiri Decision amending some provisions of Amiri Decision No. (15) of 2021 establishing Qatar Tourism.
Al-Watan concluded by explaining that the draft decision aims to strengthen the functions of Qatar Tourism to support and develop the tourism sector, and invest in the tourism sector in partnership with the private sector, adding that these steps affirm that Qatar is on the right path to achieving its goals and becoming the fastest-growing tourist destination within a few years, thanks to its extensive infrastructure that supports this ambition.
