Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials on Friday an array of topics, most notably Qatar’s continued efforts to diversify the economy, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 which aims to promote the country’s position among the world’s most powerful economies.
The Qatari dailies continued to shed light on the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression since Oct. 2023, amidst the indifference and inaction of the international community.
Al-Sharq noted Qatar’s successful efforts for achieving economic diversification – one of the most prominent goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 which aims to promote the countrys position among the most powerful countries in the world in various sectors, most notably the economy.
The State of Qatar has sought to open income streams capable of strengthening the local economy and raising it to the highest possible levels other than dependence on energy resources, Al-Sharq stressed.
In this context, Al-Sharq pointed to t
he development in the tourism and real estate sectors, and noted that the volume of foreign investments in the country has increased by more than 30% recently, to become one of the most important aspects of the future Qatari economy.
The State of Qatar has become one of the most prominent investment destinations in the Middle East and North Africa region in light of its plans to diversify the economy, while continuing to increase LNG production capacities, Al-Sharq concluded.
On the other hand, English newspaper, The Peninsula, criticized the indifference of the international community despite the atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 2023.
In its editorial titled “Indifference of International Community”, The Peninsula said that the international community remains largely indifferent. The UN Security Council convenes only to disperse after hearing conflicting speeches, without addressing the root causes or providing meaningful solutions.
This apathy is a longstanding pattern when it comes to the rights and suffering of the People of Palestine, the paper noted.
How long will the international community and its institutions continue to neglect the Palestinian people and ignore their suffering in the face of this genocidal war? the paper wondered, stressing that it is a legal, humanitarian, and moral responsibility that challenges the very credibility of human rights organizations and international bodies established to uphold peace and security.
