The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi met with Gabon’s Minister of Defense, Gen. Brigitte Onganoa, at Libreville’s Ministry of Defense headquarters.
At the beginning of the meeting, Onganoa welcomed Al-Moghedi and his accompanying delegation, highlighting the deep Gabonese-Saudi relations and Gabon’s keenness to benefit from the IMCTC. She praised the coalition’s contributions in providing training and qualification for military and civilian sectors in member states, focusing on the coalition’s four main areas of work at the intellectual, media, countering the financing of terrorism, and military levels.
Al-Moghedi noted that the IMCTC is built on strategic visions supported by the member states, which believe in the necessity of international cooperation to combat and eliminate extremism and terrorism. He pointed out that the coalition was established through a generous initiative by the government of Saudi Arabia, the host countr
y, to foster collaboration against all forms of extremism.
He added that Gabon’s strategic geographic location in Central West Africa plays an important role in the fight against terrorism. The Gabonese government’s commitment to intensifying efforts against terrorism and extremist groups is evident through its membership in the IMCTC since its inception.
