Riyadh: May 20, 2024 -- The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) developed a comprehensive plan aimed at ensuring the safety and quality of food, medications, and medical products for pilgrims during the 1445 AH Hajj season. The initiative is part of the government's commitment to utilize all available resources and deliver exceptional services to the visitors of the Grand Mosque. The SFDA participates in conducting inspections and control practices over products under its supervision at the air, land, and sea entry points for Hajj pilgrims. It also oversees food and drug establishments and medical devices within the Holy Makkah Municipality and the Madinah Regional Municipality, as well as kitchens and seasonal medical headquarters for pilgrim affairs offices. In addition, the SFDA closely monitors controlled products received through air shipments at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. To enhance awareness regarding the safe ty of food, medications, and medical devices, the SFDA implements multilingual awareness programs and disseminates informative messages. It conducts pertinent field studies and organizes workshops for kitchen staff to ensure their adherence to all health requirements, ultimately guaranteeing the provision of safe meals.
