80% Completion Reached on Umm el-Jimal Gateway Project

Umm el-jimal: Construction of the new gateway to the Umm el-Jimal archaeological site has reached 80 percent completion, according to Mohammad Abu Ulaim, head of the municipal committee. Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Abu Ulaim said the gateway project, designed to reflect the ancient civilizations that once inhabited the historic site, was launched following the site’s recent inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

According to Jordan News Agency, the gateway is expected to be completed by the end of August, with a total project cost of JD220,000, including JD100,000 contributed by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. Abu Ulaim emphasized the uniqueness of the structure, which aims to serve as a cultural and visual landmark. He added that the gateway is anticipated to welcome a surge in visitors to the site, which is expected to experience increased tourism in light of its new global recognition.
