74 foodstuff violations detected since Ramadan beginning-Ministry

Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply detected 74 foodstuff and grocery violations since beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, including 13 irregularities related to non-compliance with the price ceilings set for poultry products. In a statement to “Petra” on Sunday, the ministry’s media advisor, Yanal Baramawy, said its teams continue their “intensive” monitoring campaigns on markets across the Kingdom and follow up citizens’ complaints and observations, especially with regard to the price caps set for poultry prices. Regarding penalty for non-compliance with specified price ceilings, he noted minimum fine is JD1, 000, while max value doesn’t exceed JD3, 000, or imprisonment for a 2-month period and the longest term is 6 months behind bars, or both penalties.
