61 Rainwater Harvesting Wells Enhance Water Supply in West Irbid: Official

Irbid: Irbid Agriculture Directorate delivered 61 rainwater harvesting wells to villages and towns west of Irbid governorate.

According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Ahmad Maabreh, a member of the Irbid Governorate Council, stated that these wells, with an approximate cost of JD92,000, were funded equally in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.

Maabreh highlighted that the initiative aims to boost water supplies for farmers in the northern governorate and efficiently utilize rainwater for both agricultural and domestic purposes. He detailed that each well in this extensive project has a capacity of 30 cubic meters, with each structure costing JD1,500.

Eligibility for receiving a well is determined based on specific conditions and criteria, with the goal of providing practical and sustainable solutions to agricultural and water challenges. Maabreh explained that the wells, constructed across various districts of Irbid, are designed to collect and store rainwater to ensure availability when needed.

This initiative is part of efforts to combat climate change, conserve water resources, and decrease dependence on traditional water network sources, thereby supporting sustainable water management in the region.
