Amman: The Ministry of Social Development handed out 60,000 prepaid purchase cards to 60,000 needy families benefiting from the National Aid Fund, in an annual effort under the royal Initiatives to mark the birthday of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the start of the month of Ramadan.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry completed the disbursement of the JD100 vouchers through 108 centers countrywide to enable families to secure their needs during the holy month, it said in a press statement on Monday. The families are chosen according to fair and transparent criteria from the ministry’s database, it pointed out.
Meanwhile, the ministry began implementing a Royal Initiative for the ministry’s care home beneficiaries, numbering 1,873, during the holy month of Ramadan. The functions include religious, recreational and social activities, Ramadan fast-breaking (Iftar) meals, buying clothes and sweets, distribution of Eid Al Fitr gifts “eidiya” in the ministry’s orphanages and shelters for those without family support, people with disabilities, those seeking protection and care, and juveniles.
