An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck on Thursday the Tonga Islands in the South Pacific Ocean.
The US Geological Survey said that the quake occurred 269.2 km from ?Ohonua on the island, at a depth of 35 km.
So far, there have been no reports of human losses or material damage due to the earthquake.
Tonga is an archipelago of 176 scattered islands in the South Pacific Ocean, of which only 52 are inhabited, located in northwest New Zealand and Australia.
