30 Establishments Warned for Flouting Heatwave Work Instructions-Official

Amman: On Monday and Tuesday, Ministry of Labor’s teams carried out 120 inspection visits nationwide to ensure private sector employers’ compliance with the Minister of Labor’s decision regulating working hours during the current heatwave.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud stated that the inspection visits focused on several regions that recorded the highest temperatures in the Kingdom to ensure employers adhered to the minister’s decision. Under the minister’s directive, workers are prohibited from working in direct exposure to sunlight from 12 noon until 4:00 pm during the heatwave.

Zyoud noted that the teams, who documented their visits with audio and video recordings, observed compliance from many companies, institutions, and employers. However, Zyoud announced that the teams warned 30 establishments and fined 1 that failed to comply with the decision, adding that the entities that were warned will face fines if they do not rectify their violations.

Zyoud mentioned that the teams continued their inspection visits today and will persist until Thursday. The minister’s decision, he stated, will be enforced during the heatwave days announced by the Jordan Meteorological Department, which started last Monday and will continue through Thursday.
