Amman: Director General of the Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC), Mohammad Dujjan, highlighted the crucial role of interagency partnerships in offering subsidized, interest-free agricultural loans to promote modern, climate-adapted farming practices. Dujjan emphasized that such efforts are instrumental in empowering farmers, boosting agricultural production efficiency, and ensuring sustainability in line with approved environmental and social standards.

According to Jordan News Agency, Dujjan’s remarks were made during a ceremony at the Jordan River Foundation (JRF) headquarters, which reviewed the achievements and progress of the “Credit and Loans Initiative for Agricultural Technology Enhancement” project. The event was attended by the World Food Programme (WFP)’s Program Manager, Mohammad Ismail, and JRF Director General, Enaam Barishi.

Ismail and Barishi discussed the cooperation aspects in implementing the project and the tangible outcomes achieved. They also highlighted the importance of sustained coordination to deliver support and funding to targeted groups across all governorates of the Kingdom.

During the meeting, a detailed presentation showcased the project’s achievements, results from the training needs assessment, and insights into the challenges and lessons from fieldwork. Additionally, technical workshops were conducted to develop funding solutions for agricultural companies and associations, aiming to ensure economic impact and sector development.

Participants concluded the discussions by agreeing on an action plan for the next phase, reiterating their commitment to providing optimal financial and technical services to support Jordan’s agricultural sector and contribute to achieving food security.

Amman: Commissioner for Environment and Public Safety at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA): stated on Sunday that private sector engagement is no longer an option but an urgent necessity to ensure the sustainability of blue economy projects.

According to Jordan News Agency, Al Ouran, speaking in Barcelona, emphasized that integrating private investment is key to maximizing the economic and environmental impact of the sector by expanding the investment base in maritime and coastal industries.

Al Ouran co-chaired the fifth steering committee meeting of the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership Fund alongside representatives from Spain. The gathering aimed to strengthen international cooperation and support initiatives that promote sustainable maritime development.

The meeting was attended by the committee’s secretariat, represented by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), as well as representatives from the fund’s member states.

Discussions focused on the development of linked projects and the strategic alignment of international funding with sustainable ocean and coastal management goals.

King Abdullah II Meets Kuwaiti Foreign Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday received Kuwait Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah at Al Husseiniya Palace. The meeting, which also included the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, focused on the robust relations between Jordan and Kuwait. Discussions were held on expanding cooperation across several fields and enhancing joint Arab action to ensure sustained de-escalation in the region.

According to Jordan News Agency, King Abdullah II emphasized that any de-escalation agreement must safeguard the security of Arab states. He highlighted the critical importance of Gulf states’ security to both regional and global stability. The King also reiterated the necessity of continuing support for Lebanon’s efforts to preserve its security, stability, and sovereignty. He warned against Israeli attempts to exploit the regional situation to establish new realities on the ground in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.

According to Jordan News Agency, the award was granted by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) during its global conference held in Bern, Switzerland. A representative from the Jordanian Embassy in Bern accepted the accolade on behalf of the company, as stated in a Jordan Post statement released on Sunday.

The achievement underscores Jordan’s efforts to enhance its regional leadership in postal development and reflects the company’s dedication to improving services for citizens and commercial sectors. Amman: Justice Minister Bassam Talhouni on Sunday discussed with UNHCR Representative in Jordan Maria Stavropoulou ways to enhance joint legal cooperation. During the meeting held at the ministry, Talhouni called for building on the existing partnership, commending cooperation with the agency, particularly in supporting the justice sector and strengthening the human rights system.

According to Jordan News Agency, Talhouni also highlighted joint efforts to implement activities under the National Strategy to Combat Human Trafficking, underscoring the need to launch “systematic” and logistical coordination to ensure complementary efforts in line with international standards.

For her part, Stavropoulou praised Jordan’s efforts, under His Majesty King Abdullah II’s leadership, in hosting refugees and assuming the associated economic burdens. She expressed appreciation for cooperation with the Ministry of Justice in developing anti-trafficking mechanisms. Jordan, Saudi Arabia Discuss Strategic Railway Linking Gulf to Levant

Amman: Minister of Transport Nidal Katamine underscored the strategic ties between Jordan and Saudi Arabia on Sunday, highlighting the transport sector as a primary engine for regional integration and bilateral trade. During a meeting at the ministry with Saudi Ambassador to Jordan, Prince Mansour bin Khalid Al Saud, Katamine detailed a proposed national railway project designed to connect the Omari border crossing with Saudi Arabia to the Jaber crossing on the Syrian border. The planned route, passing through the Madouneh area, is envisioned as a strategic corridor linking the Arabian Gulf states to Syria and onward to Turkey via Jordanian territory. Katamine noted that the project would significantly enhance the flow of goods and open new avenues for regional commerce.

According to Jordan News Agency, in a ministry statement, Katamine emphasized that current regional dynamics necessitate the development of effective and sustainable transport alternatives.
