Jordanian Political Parties Support Government’s Ban on Muslim Brotherhood

Amman: Jordanian political parties have collectively expressed their support for the government’s decisive actions against the so-called Muslim Brotherhood, which has recently been implicated in attempts to carry out criminal acts aimed at destabilizing the nation and threatening its security and stability.

According to Jordan News Agency, this unified stance demonstrates a national consensus on the importance of confronting efforts to disrupt the Jordanian state and highlights the solidarity among political entities in facing such challenges. The parties have issued press releases lauding the “tremendous” efforts of the country’s security forces, whose professionalism and dedication in defending Jordan against threats have been commendable.

The National Islamic Party emphasized the government’s and various bodies’ roles in maintaining a strong internal front during these trying times. It pointed out that serious security threats, such as the making of explosives, missiles, and drones by individuals associated with the so-called Muslim Brotherhood, necessitate decisive security and political measures to safeguard the state’s stability.

The government’s decision to ban the group is seen as a necessary step within the political, legal, and realistic context to maintain security and stability, which are pivotal to the Jordanian state. The National Charter Party echoed this sentiment, supporting the government’s action to enforce a judicial decision banning the Muslim Brotherhood, citing evidence of their involvement in activities that threatened national unity and public order.

The Irada Party reaffirmed its support for the Interior Ministry’s enforcement of a 2020 Court of Cassation order, which declared the Muslim Brotherhood as a disbanded entity lacking legal status in Jordan. It highlighted the importance of respecting judicial orders as essential to upholding the rule of law and praised the legal approach taken in addressing this issue.

The Blessed Land Party also endorsed the government’s enforcement of the judicial decision to disband the Muslim Brotherhood and close its headquarters, calling it a “step in the right direction” towards reinforcing the rule of law and protecting the nation’s security. The party urged the government to confiscate the group’s assets and prevent any attempts to regroup under different names.

The Jordanian Social Democratic Party emphasized that political action should be peaceful and transparent, rather than secretive and armed. It supported the legal actions taken in accordance with the final court order to ban the group, stressing the principle of rule of law, which requires adherence to court rulings by both individuals and groups.
