The 18th epidemiological week spanning between April 29 and May 6 recorded 84 Covid-19 cases, compared with 225 cases during the 17th week, marking a drop of 63 per cent, adviser at the Prime Ministry for Health Affairs and the official in charge of the COVID-19 pandemic Adel Bilbeisi said on Sunday.
Bilbeisi told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that no fatalities have been recorded this compared with two deaths in the 17th epidemiological week.
A total of 7,787 PCR tests were conducted in this week, compared with 18,164 tests in the preceding week, marking a 57 per cent decrease.
The number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals stands at 9, compared with 14 patients the 17th week, down by 36 per cent, he added.
The share of tests that returned a positive result, known as the positive rate, over the last week stood at 1.1 per cent, compared with 1.2 per cent in the 17th week, marking an 8 per cent drop, the advisor said.
There are currently 54 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan, compared with 163 cases in the preceding week, marking a 67 per cent drop, Bilbeisi said.
On the national vaccination program, Bilbeisi said that the number of shots administered during the 18th week stood at 771 for the first dose, compared with 4874 shots in the previous week, 718 for the second, compared with 5233 shots, 367 for the booster jab, compared with 3687 shots in the 17th week, totaling 1,865 shots, compared with 13,794 shots during the 17th week, marking an 80 per cent drop.
