17 killed in attack on relief aid trucks in central Somalia

At least 17 civilians were killed and a number of others wounded on Saturday in an attack by Al-Shabab militant group against trucks carrying relief aid in Central Somalia’s region of Hiran, according to the Somali news Agency (SONA).

The terrorists stopped trucks carrying food supplies from the city of Baladweyne to Mahas town and set them on fire, killing 17 people, including women and children,” It quoted a local elder as saying.

Somalia has been fighting a war for years against Al-Shabab, an armed group affiliated with Al Qaeda that was founded in early 2004, and it has claimed numerous terrorist attacks that left hundreds of people dead.
