16th Cardiology Conference Unites Experts for Advances in Cardiovascular Medicine

Amman:The Jordan Cardiac Society's 16th conference commenced on Thursday, drawing together Arab and international specialists for two days of scientific sessions focused on advancements in cardiovascular medicine, treatment, and patient care.

According to Jordan News Agency, the conference includes eight scientific sessions and lectures addressing topics such as preventive cardiology, heart failure, clinical interventions, and congenital heart conditions. Participants will explore emerging technologies, exchange expertise, and discuss complex medical cases.

Health Minister Ibrahim Al-Bdour, who inaugurated the conference, noted that cardiovascular diseases remain leading causes of death globally and regionally, underscoring the need for continued development in cardiac intervention services. Al-Bdour highlighted risk factors like smoking, obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure, emphasizing the necessity of improving treatments to mitigate complications and save lives.

The Health Ministry has expanded catheterization and cardiac surgery services in hospitals to establish referral centers serving patients across various governorates. Since February, a protocol for treating acute heart attacks with catheterization has been implemented, with specialized teams available 24/7 to handle emergencies. This protocol aims to apply international standards and improve healthcare service quality by standardizing critical case treatment pathways.

Honorary Conference President Yousef Al-Qusous stated that the Jordan Cardiac Society, founded in 1988, provides a platform for examining scientific developments in cardiology and building on the Kingdom's achievements. Society President Jamal Al-Dabbas highlighted collaboration with the Health Ministry and the World Heart Federation, which has facilitated training for Jordanian physicians and noted the Kingdom's history in heart transplantation, dating back to the first procedure by Al-Qusous in 1985.

Scientific Committee Chairman Ali Al-Halabi mentioned that specialists from several countries are attending the conference, with some participating remotely. Jordan Medical Association Council member Saddam Al-Shannaq advocated for a unified treatment protocol across healthcare sectors and clearer definitions of medical specialties' responsibilities in line with the Medical and Health Liability Law.

Additionally, Al-Bdour inaugurated a specialized exhibition alongside the conference, showcasing companies involved in medical devices, supplies, and pharmaceuticals.
