Aqaba: The Irbid office of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission has finalized an agreement with the Regular Frequency Company to introduce a high-frequency public transport system on the Irbid-Jerash route. The announcement was made on Saturday, as officials revealed that 15 buses will soon begin operating on a fixed schedule.
According to Jordan News Agency, the system is designed to operate buses based on scheduled departure times, regardless of whether they are fully loaded or empty. Mohammad Alawneh, the director of the Irbid office, explained that this reciprocal frequency system will see buses departing from both the new Amman terminal in Irbid and the Jerash terminal.
The new system is anticipated to be operational by the end of the month. Buses involved will be equipped with frequency counters, electronic payment systems, and other technologies to enhance the service. Alawneh also highlighted future plans of the regulatory commission, which include expanding the high-frequency system to the Irbid-Zarqa route, aiming to improve inter-governorate transport, enhance commuter services, and ensure a reliable bus service.
