Amman: Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah inaugurated the 10th Jordan International Food Exhibition, known as Jordan Food, at Amman's Mecca Mall. The event, organized by the international promoters company for marketing and organizing exhibitions (IPCO), features both local and international participants and coincides with the holy month of Ramadan.
According to Jordan News Agency, Qudah, representing the Prime Minister, toured the exhibition's pavilions and commended the progress of Jordan's food industry. He emphasized the importance of such exhibitions in promoting Jordanian products, facilitating their entry into Arab and global markets. He noted that the majority of participating companies are Jordanian, highlighting the exhibition's role in enhancing the competitiveness and quality of national products.
Qudah addressed concerns about Ramadan commodity prices, stating that the ministry monitors prices daily and factors influencing them, particularly global prices. He assured that 65% of basic food items have not increased in price, 20% have decreased, and 15% have risen marginally. He stressed the ministry's commitment to keeping local market prices aligned with global levels and preventing unjustified inflation.
He also highlighted Jordan's strategic food reserves, which exceed standard safety levels. While most countries maintain reserves for two months, Jordan's reserves cover more than two months for most commodities, with wheat reserves covering nine months.
IPCO Director General Raed Abu Saada described the exhibition as an important national event that showcases local industries and their high standards. He reiterated Jordan's position as a business and trade hub, and IPCO's commitment to organizing the exhibition regularly to support Jordanian industries. The exhibition, open daily from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. for five days, offers free entry and direct sales to the public, serving as a platform for companies entering the Jordanian market to understand local consumer preferences.
