1.6 Million Students Set to Begin New Academic Year Across Kingdom

Amman: Approximately 1.6 million students are scheduled to head to schools across the Kingdom on Sunday, marking the start of the new 2025/2026 academic year. In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Education highlighted that the number of students in schools nationwide may fluctuate due to student transfers and registration processes at the beginning of the school year. According to Jordan News Agency, the Ministry of Education announced that all necessary preparations and arrangements have been completed to welcome students. This includes the delivery of textbooks, furnishing of classrooms, and the transfer of teaching staff. The ministry’s statistics reveal that approximately 7,843 schools are set to receive students countrywide. The ministry provided a gender breakdown of the student population, noting that there are 1,139,784 female students and 1,168,464 male students. Of these, 833,115 students will attend public schools, 253,008 will join private educational institutions, 50,728 will receive edu cation through UNRWA services, and 2,933 will be enrolled in military education schools. In terms of learning infrastructure, the ministry detailed that out of the 7,843 schools, 4,049 are public, 3,532 are private, 55 are military culture facilities, and 162 are affiliated with UNRWA. Additionally, the ministry stated that a total of 59,484 classrooms are under the Ministry of Education’s purview.
