Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on Monday welcomed a delegation from the Norwegian Defense University College’s (NDUC) Senior Executive Course.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The delegation included Norwegian parliamentarians, representatives from the Ministries of Defense, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Transport, Justice, Energy, and Health, as well as members of the country’s armed forces and media.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Safadi underlined the strong ties between Jordan and Noway that paved the way for cooperation and high-level coordination on regional challenges.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
He pointed to His Majesty King Abdullah’s efforts to maintain security and stability, address regional crises, boost regional cooperation and achieve a just and comprehensive peace through the two-state solution.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Safadi commended Norway’s key role in supporting the Palestinian economy through heading the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) for the coordination of international aid to the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
He also thanked Jordan for receiving refugees, noting the pressure and heavy burden they pose on the Kingdom and dwindling international aid.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Norway this year pledged $124 million for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) spread over four years. During the Sixth Brussels Conference held this year, Norway also pledged $160 million for Syria refugees and host countries in the region.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
