Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Technical Affairs, Elham Khreisat, on Wednesday inaugurated a workshop to propose and develop Jordan’s national digital health strategy.<\/p>\n

During the event, organized by World Health Organization (WHO), in cooperation with International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Khreisat said the key strategy’s pillars seek to achieve facilitated flow of computer-based data, in line with national health policies and strategies, which should be drafted “ideally” with participation of all sectors and local and int’l organisations.<\/p>\n

The strategy, she noted, is compatible with Jordan’s national health policies and reflects its health conditions, adding that it aims to achieve comprehensive health care and sustainable development goals.<\/p>\n

Addressing the workshop, WHO representative in Jordan, Dr. Jamila Rabi, said countries bear the primary responsibility in monitoring steps to achieve sustainable development goals, which require collection of high-quality and fast-access data, in a bid to analyze and use them to positively affect progress.<\/p>\n

Digital health is a key factor in consolidating WHO three goals, which offers universal health coverage to one billion people across the world and protects beneficiaries from health emergencies, Rabi pointed out.<\/p>\n

For his part, ITU representative of Arab Regional Office, Karim Abdel-Ghani, said WHO’s role is to present the best global expertise to enrich the strategy that will be developed, adding that Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for digital transformation in all sectors, especially health, which requires a national vision towards unifying goals and efforts.<\/p>\n

57 participants took part in the workshop representing Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), ministries of health, planning and digital economy, agriculture, environment, as well as private and educational hospitals and UNRWA.<\/p>\n
