Inbound and outbound aircraft movements (ACM) at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) increased by 22%, Chief Commissioner \/CEO of Jordan Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), Haitham Mesto, announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement to “Petra” on Thursday, Mesto said ACM traffic through QAIA has linked the Kingdom to about 72 international destinations directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mesto attributed this growth to a number of reasons, primarily Royal Jordanian’s step to operate new scheduled airlines for the first time to Antalya and Toronto during last June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This uptrend is also due to re-operation of direct flights that were active before the Covid-19 pandemic during current summer season, most notably to Zurich, Geneva, Berlin and Sharm El-Sheikh, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, inbound and outbound flights to QAIA amounted to 81% of recorded ACM traffic in 2019, reaching 6,945 flights, compared to 8,555 for the same period in 2019, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Passengers (PAX) movement achieved a growth rate of 29% last August, compared to the same month in 2021, as the number of travelers stood at 942,000, compared to nearly 1 million during the same month of 2019, and nearly 650,000 during August 2021, Mesto pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Number of passengers reached 89% of total travelers during August 2019, he said, adding that number of daily ACM movements in August reached 224, compared to 184 flights during the same month in 2021, and 276 during August of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
