Delegation from the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday concluded a several-day official visit to Jordan.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
President of National Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases Centre (NEIDC), Raeda Qutb, saw off the CDC delegation at the airport.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Over the past days, the NEIDC held intensive talks with the guest delegation and organized meetings with local, regional or international partners.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
In press remarks, Qutb said meetings went over possible support mechanisms in the future for the NEIDC’s efforts and the national action aimed to combating and mitigating health threats and benefiting from international expertise and support by launching partnerships and signing memoranda of understanding (MoU) and agreements for this purpose.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
This process also seeks to enhance Jordan\u2019s health security and ensure provision of public health protection for Jordanians, by raising efficiency and technical capabilities to find scientific, evidence-based methods for prevention and control of diseases and pandemics, she noted.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Qutb added that NEIDC briefed CDC delegation about its draft action strategy, which is underway, aimed to coordinating local response efforts, to counter pandemics and other health threats, follow up on implementation of related emergency plans and monitor health and environmental threats and their connection to diseases.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
In addition, she said NEIDC briefed the delegation on its plans to establish a health data system for diseases by cooperating with various sectors aimed to analyze and predict future scenarios in this regard.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Qutb noted the two sides agreed to maintain joint cooperation in the coming period to exchange more expertise with the aim of developing and strengthening NEIDC’s operations.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
