The 2022 Execution Law has come into force, as authorities started releasing a number of debtors who spent 60 days in prison per debt according to the amendments made to the new law, Judicial Council Spokesperson Judge Waleed Kanakriah told Petra on Friday.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The new law stipulates that debtors who fail to repay shall face a penalty of up to 60 days in prison per debt, with no more than 120 days per year.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The release, the spokesperson said, is taking place in cooperation with the Public Security Department (PSD).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Several amendments were made to the Execution Law and became effective 30 days after its publication in the Official Gazette.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
