The Awqaf Ministry voiced its utmost concern following the storming of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif by extremist settlers on Sunday.

Awqaf Minister, Muhammad Khalaileh said that the ministry followed up with great concern these raids and Talmudic rituals that were performed by settlers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under the protection of the Israeli occupation police, as well as the ongoing, unprecedented and unacceptable violations and desecration of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.

These violations will not change the Arab and Islamic identity of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is considered a private property for Muslims alone, and no one has the right to give any partnership to non-Muslims in their mosque, Khalaileh said Sunday in a statement.

Khalaileh noted that practices of the settlers in the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque are taking place with the support of the occupation authority, which sponsor them and encouraging extremism.

The Awqaf Minister added that these violations are “a derogation of the absolute and immortal right of Muslims to the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif,” stressing that Jordan adheres to the Hashemite custodianship, as well as the Islamic world unanimously upholding its temporal and spatial divine right in the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

He explained that this stems from a Qur’anic text and a well-established Islamic belief that supports them on that history, and the international law and resolutions that recognized the right of Muslims alone in the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif in its entirety, and that this right is not shared by them or by another community of people.
