As the National Study on Violence against Children in Jordan shows, ensuring the protection of children from abuse, harm, and violence and safeguarding their rights are needed more than ever,” emphasized M\u2019jid.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The NCFA General Secretary, Mohammad Fakhri Mikdadi, asserted the importance of M\u2019jid’s visit to Jordan to learn about the country\u2019s accomplishments in institutionalizing the protection system.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Mikdadi added that Jordan, with support from Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, considers children a national priority – whether in terms of services provided to them, legislations asserting their rights, or mechanisms of protecting and enacting such rights.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Mikdadi expressed his pride in NCFA\u2019s representation of Jordan in the Global Initiative for Ending Violence Against Children, thanks to its national role in coordination, mobilization, leading national strategies and policies and developing the family and child protection system.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
He confirmed that this representation is an added responsibility that NCFA will take on within its continuous efforts to promote and enhance the national family and child protection system.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Mikdadi also mentioned the importance of the “Violence Against Children study” – which was led by the NCFA, UNICEF, and various partners as a first step towards reviewing current strategies and mechanisms of preventing violence against children, and the level of their enforcement and effectiveness.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The study supports the policy and decision-making process in the field.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The results of this Study will provide, for the first time, estimations of the scope and nature of the problem using a methodology that can be projected, elicited, and compared while taking into consideration the specific characteristics of the local environment and populations.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
“Violence Against Children is never acceptable and ending it is everyone\u2019s responsibility,” said Tanya Chapuisat, Representative, UNICEF Jordan. “UNICEF will continue to support the Government of Jordan to provide children and young people with a safe, nurturing environment where they can exercise their rights, participate in society and grow up to fulfil their potential”.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The event also witnessed the launch of Children of Jordan website, which provides platform to view the situation of children in Jordan.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The website is part of the National Inter-Sectoral Violence Against Children Plan, which was ratified in the presence of several ministers and representatives of the Public Security Department.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The website covers several causes, studies, and policies on children and their protection, in addition prevention and response programs and media campaigns aimed at preventing violence against children.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
