It is time for a global reset.<\/p>\n<p>Increasing inequalities worldwide call for a new type of social contract with a renewed emphasis on inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>The latest\u00a0State of the World&#8217;s Volunteerism Report (SWVR) &#8216;<b><i>Building equal and inclusive societies<\/i><\/b>&#8216; explains that the participation of over a billion volunteers worldwide is a way to shape a future that is brighter for all.<\/p>\n<p>The flagship report of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t%3D0%26l%3Den%26o%3D3370690-1%26h%3D3265758531%26u%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.unv.org%252F%26a%3DUnited%2BNations%2BVolunteers%2B(UNV)%2Bprogramme&amp;source=gmail-html&amp;ust=1638508220120000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3wIiiuIfVrbXMKo1JC39TX\"  rel=\"noreferrer\">United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme<\/a>\u00a0will be launched at the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York today, live on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t%3D0%26l%3Den%26o%3D3370690-1%26h%3D2510477612%26u%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fmedia.un.org%252Fen%252Fwebtv%26a%3DUNWebTV&amp;source=gmail-html&amp;ust=1638508220120000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3ZnEnNYLh3MJXnTBhwDulH\"  rel=\"noreferrer\">UNWebTV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Report draws on case study research across all regions of the globe. From Nepal to Peru, and Lebanon to Malawi- the way volunteers have an impact on their communities comes to light. Through women&#8217;s right groups and vaccine assistance hot-lines, people not only help those in need but are voicing the longer-term concerns of communities to their governments.<\/p>\n<p>Every seventh person in the world is a volunteer. Despite the devastating socio-economic impacts of the pandemic, global interest in volunteering in communities has endured. People have continued to respond to the crisis in significant ways, despite limited mobility and resources. While restrictions have prevented many people from volunteering in person, many have switched to volunteering online.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers are often seen as the doers and social service providers.
