A Cabinet session, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, on Wednesday discussed the measures that have already been taken to implement the King’s directives to government to embark on procedures to issue a “special” pardon for persons convicted with l\u00e8se-majest\u00e9 crimes and putting it into effect “as soon as possible.”<\/P>
<\/P>
Speaking at the session, Minister of Justice, Ahmed Ziyadat, presented the “practical” steps that were taken to implement the King’s directives to issue a special pardon for those convicted in l\u00e8se-majest\u00e9 cases.<\/P>
<\/P>
Once the King’s directive was issued and the premier’s instructions to implement it “quickly, Ziyadat said the Ministry of Justice, in coordination with the Jordanian Judicial Council, began preparing lists for those involved in l\u00e8se-majest\u00e9 cases.<\/P>
<\/P>
Priority has been given to examine cases for those currently spending prion terms, he said, adding that a special pardon will be issued in this regard during the coming period, to release those convicted from the reform and rehabilitation centers.<\/P>
<\/P>
On other l\u00e8se-majest\u00e9 cases, he said warrants and subpoenas against those wanted to the Public Prosecution will be revoked.<\/P>
