During the strategic dialogue round, the second round of which will be held in Jordan next year, the two sides discussed joint efforts to combat terrorism, which they agreed that it constitutes a common risk, and they will continue to work together, within the framework of the international coalition and the Aqaba process, to defeat it militarily, security-wise and ideologically.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The two sides reaffirmed the Kingdom and Italy’s supportive position for efforts to end the Libyan crisis through a political solution agreed upon by Libyans and in accordance with the approved agreements and references.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
They emphasized the importance of holding the Libyan elections on December 24, 2021, the date agreed upon by the Libyan parties at the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, and confirmed by the outcomes of the Second International Conference on Libya (Berlin 2).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The round dealt with many other regional issues, including developments of talks on renegotiating the Iranian nuclear agreement, the situation in Lebanon, as well as the situation in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The two sides agreed on the need to support Iraq’s security and stability, and efforts of the Iraqi government in the reconstruction process, and to establish stability and the victory that Iraq achieved with great sacrifices over terrorism.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Safadi and Di Maio also stressed the importance of strengthening dialogue as a way to resolve regional crises.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Di Maio lauded Jordan’s role and efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, in resolving crises, promoting a culture of dialogue and respect for others, and achieving security and stability in the region, commending the Kingdom’s distinguished humanitarian role in hosting refugees.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
In a meeting that followed the strategic dialogue round, the two ministers highlighted ways to increase cooperation within the framework of the European Union and its institutions.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
They also lauded the deep-rooted historical friendship ties between the two countries and said they will continue towards developing them.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
