Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and his Serbian counterpart Nikola Selakovic agreed to form a task force that would prioritise areas of cooperation between the two countries. They would also sign off agreements to spur cooperation.

The top diplomats emphasised their countries’ keenness to strengthen Jordan-Serbia ties.

On top of the agenda was the Palestinian cause, as the foreign ministers discussed the international efforts to reinvigorate “serious” peace talks based on the two-state solution.

The meeting also discussed the efforts aimed at resolving the Syrian crisis, the continued flow of financial support for refugees and the developments in Lebanon.

Safadi stressed the need to maintain peace in the occupied Palestinian territories and the halt of the Israeli unilateral actions that undermine the two-state solution.

In turn, Selakovic praised Jordan’s role in entrenching dialogue to realise peace and uphold regional security and stability.

Safadi will partake in the Non-Aligned Movement upon an invitation from Selakovic to mark its 60th anniversary in Belgrade, Serbia.

Safadi highlighted the Movement’s “positive” role in achieving stability and promoting cooperation between member states.

The ministers agreed to expand cooperation on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
