Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi Monday reiterated the kingdom’s support of a political solution to the more than a decade-long Syrian crisis.<\/p>\n

In a meeting in Rome, Italy, on the Syrian crisis, Safadi emphasized the importance of doing more to realize a political solution to the crisis, highlighting that any solution should preserve Syria’s territorial integrity.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Safadi underscored the need to uphold security in the country, especially in the southern parts, stressing there should be a mechanism that would ensure humanitarian assistance is delivered to whoever is in need.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He warned of the reduction in the international support for refugees, host countries and UN organizations and agencies.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Jordan has more than 1.3 million Syrian refugees on its lands, and it is the responsibility of the international community to offer them a decent living, he added.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Safadi also met with United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen to discuss the international effort to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The meeting that was called by the U.S. and Italy saw the participation of Italy, the U.S., the UK, Germany, France, Ireland, Norway, Canada, Japan, Iraq, Turkey, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UN and EU.<\/p>\n
