\nRiyadh: The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) will be holding the first National Greening Forum, under the theme “Toward a Green Future”, in Riyadh on May 6, 2024, bringing together the public, private, and non-profit sectors to realize the goals of Saudi Green Initiative, including that of planting 10 billion trees.<\/p>\n
The forum will gather specialists and environmentalists, and targets the entire population.<\/p>\n
It will introduce the National Afforestation Program to the public, work to see a greater contribution of the public, private, and non-profit sectors to achieving the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative, boost communication with all concerned entities, provide them with information and updates, help them perform their assigned roles, foster collaboration, showcase successful models, shed light on investment opportunities, and highlight sector developments, as well as boost community participation in efforts to achieve the ambitious national goals pertai
\nning to the environment.<\/p>\n
The forum is expected to boost national efforts to increase the vegetation cover and green areas, review the benefits of the National Afforestation Program, discuss environment sustainability and supervision, economic growth, investment opportunities, and use of nature-based solutions to boost vegetation.<\/p>\n
Also discussed will be afforestation efforts exerted by various sectors in the Kingdom, success factors, including policies and regulations, how to engage public, private, and non-profit sector stakeholders, lessons learned from major local and global afforestation projects, reform in the field, endeavor to expand nurseries, international afforestation projects and the challenges they face in creating nurseries and seed banks, improving the quality of plants available for various projects, and enabling community participation by enhancing stakeholder cooperation and learning how to navigate seed and tree supply chains effectively to achieve the best results.<\/p>\n
