Secretary General of the Water Authority, Bashar Bataineh, signed Monday the Fixed Amount Reimbursement Agreement (FARA) agreement (FARA2) to reduce water losses in Tafileh Governorate, southern Jordan, with a value of about $13.2 million as a grant provided by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
The agreement aims to rehabilitate, develop and improve the main and secondary water networks in Tafileh, as the implementation period of all “FARA” projects is up to five years, and the Water Authority will provide $1.3 million to the project’s total cost of $152 million.
Bataineh indicated that the ministry is focusing its efforts on modernizing and developing water networks in all areas of the Kingdom to reduce water losses, develop and implement new water networks and improve the level of services provided to citizens.
He explained that the “FARA” project is one of the integrated cooperation programs with the USAID to modernize and rehabilitate networks in several areas of the Kingdom, including the governorates of the south, Balqa and other areas.
