Unemployment rate soars to 23pct in Q2

Unemployment among Jordanians rose by 3.8 percent in the second quarter of the current year to reach 23 percent, according to official figures.

 

The unemployment rate among males and females during the April-July period stood at 21.5 and 28.6 percent respectively, the Department of Statistics revealed on Tuesday.

 

The data also showed that 26.6 of university degree holders are jobless,and that unemployment among high school graduates and those with higher degrees stood 51.6 percent.

 

Furthermore, the figures revealed that 48.4 percent of all unemployed persons did not finish high school.
